Last winter I finally got to reading Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga classic Akira after ten years of religiously watching the animated movie. Inspired by his ability to draw full-scale human apocalypse, I wanted to create an animation that captures the dynamic city environment that is very present in Far East Asia.
상경/Sanggyeong means, quote: ”An act of going to the capital, Seoul, from local provinces.”. 상경 is used in Korean daily live to describe the ever growing urban behemoth that is Seoul with its 25 million inhabitants.
